Breast Reconstruction in Islamabad Pakistan

Pre-Treatment Consultation:

• Review of Medical History:
  Discuss previous surgeries; chemotherapy / radiation for cancer; current medications and general medical status to make certain that there are no contraindications to a safe reconstructive plan.
• Evaluation of Physical Characteristics:
  Assess the condition of the breast tissue, the quality of the overlying skin, the condition of the underlying chest wall and the symmetry of both breasts in order to best choose the type of reconstruction that can be done.
• Imaging & Measurement:
  Use a mammogram, ultrasound, 3D images etc to help map out the remaining tissue and to allow an accurate measurement of where an implant will be placed or which flap can be used.
• Discussion of Treatment Plan:
  Outline what will be done surgically (technique), what is anticipated, when the patient may expect to begin their recovery and what the patient’s individualized aesthetic objectives are.
• Asking Questions & Managing Expectations:
  Answer questions about what to expect from surgery and about risks, postoperative recovery time and long term results in order to manage the patient’s expectations.

Pre-Treatment Safety Precautions:

• Blood thinning medications should be discontinued at least 1 week prior to the surgery.
• Smoking and Vaping should be stopped at least 4 weeks prior to the date of the surgery.
• All required blood work must be completed and medical clearance checks done.
• Tell your Surgeon about all medications and supplements you are taking.
• Follow pre-anesthesia fasting instructions.
• Make arrangements for a responsible adult to pick you up from the office after surgery.
• Keep the chest area free of any skin products such as lotions, creams, etc.
