Total Time Duration of The Surgery: 

The time period of the breast augmentation surgery is usually 1-2 hours depending on the expertise of the surgeon or the purpose of the surgery. 

Procedure Details:

The procedure of breast augmentation surgery is not really a big job. The procedure is done within a few steps: 

Consultation: Before the surgery your surgeon will assess your skin, discuss your medical history and do a quick checkup. 

Preparation: Then your skin or breast is cleaned and disinfected to undergo the procedure. 

Anesthesia: Anesthesia is applied so that you don’t feel any pain. 

Operation: Operation is done in the clinic or in a surgery room. The surgery takes 1-2 hours.  

Finishing up: Immediately after the surgery you’re going to be wheeled into my recovery room. Once you’re in the recovery room we basically let you sleep because you’re going to be tired, the anesthesia is getting out of your system, so we just let you rest.

Breast Augmentation Recovery Timeline: 

Timeline	Details
1st 48 hours	This is the first day or two once you’re home.  You might feel a little bit of soreness, a little bit of pressure. No heavy exercise, no lifting things that are more than 10 pounds. No reaching to the top shelf to get something heavy off the top shelf.
1- 2 weeks post surgery	A lot of my patients are back to work in 72 hours.  If you have a desk job or a job that doesn’t require heavy lifting, you really could be back to work within a few days. Avoid overusing your chest muscles. limit your exercise because the more you exercise the higher your heart rate goes, the higher your blood pressure goes.
4 – 6 weeks post surgery	So essentially at this time period, you have zero restrictions in your activity. You can do anything you feel comfortable doing. This is the time period after surgery where you want to be concentrating on what you can do to make your scar heal better.
3 – 6 months	At this point life should be pretty normal for you. You have zero restrictions.  You can do anything you want.  You shouldn’t have pain, but it’s normal to feel little twinges or little sensations that are a little bit weird to you.
Final results	The most important thing is you should be looking great in six months. Your implants should have settled into their normal position so they look softer, they look more natural, they don’t look as high as they did at the beginning.

Medical Note:

Like with any surgical procedure, it really takes a lot longer to heal than you think. In fact, many surgeons will tell you it still takes at least a year or more to see your final results. So even at the six month mark, if you’re liking the way they look, there’s still going to be some changes that happen over the next six months.
